Truth be told art installation at the Brooklyn Museum

Leach work on many inspiring projects around the world and the ‘Truth be Told’ art installation at the Brooklyn Museum was certainly one of them…

As part of our continued work with Brooklyn Museum, Leach recently produced and installed a 37m wide x 4m high public artwork onto the façade of the Brooklyn Museum steps.

The installation of Truth be Told by artist Nick Cave, sparks a conversation about racial injustice and promotes that the ‘Truth be Told’ regarding these issues amid nationwide Black Lives Matter protests.

Relocating from Jack Shainman’s ‘The School’ in Kinderhook, New York, this installation is the second presentation of Nick Cave: Truth be Told, where it will remain on the Museum’s Plaza until March 2022.

This artwork installation runs in conjunction with Brooklyn Museum’s exhibition – The Slipstream: Reflection, Resilience, and Resistance in the Art of Our Time – which examines the placement and displacement of power running through America, past and present.

Leach was honoured to be enlisted as the trusted graphic supplier for a project that challenges the discourse. Our role involved the production and installation of super-wide-format vinyl graphics that would present the “Truth be Told” lettering in an external application integrating with the steps of the Brooklyn Museum entrance. The three-word art piece took its shape as a laminated matt vinyl, produced with longevity in mind to ensure it would withstand high traffic and environmental factors.
We turned the entire project around within a 2-week period. This included artwork, printing, laminating, cutting, a 10-day shipment to Brooklyn, and installation onto the steps. Watch the video below to see the installation unfold in a time lapse.

We are thrilled with the overall finish of the large-scale graphics have produced, allowing the art to provide the impact that this issue deserves.

Leach is well versed when it comes to delivering on influential print projects across the globe, having worked on a string of exhibitions with the Brooklyn Museum already including the ‘JR: Chronicles’ project at Domino Park – as well as numerous projects in The Middle East, America and Europe.
