The Titanic Experience
Specification and production of an entire suite of interpretive and environmental graphics
Voted Europe’s leading visitor attraction 2016, Titanic Belfast is the world’s largest Titanic visitor experience, exploring the Titanic story in a modern and insightful way.
Working alongside Tandem Design, Leach were commissioned by the Titanic Quarter, Belfast and Harcourt Construction in specifying and producing an entire suite of interpretive and environmental graphics to bring to life the interior of Eric Kuhne’s iconic building.
Leach’s role included:
As part of the project team, Leach provided its experience and expertise to produce and install a vast range of high quality graphics throughout. In total we provided over 700 graphics, which was set across nine galleries, over four levels – a major project within the visitor attraction market.
As visitors make their way through the nine interactive galleries of the Titanic Experience, they will find vast areas of Leach’s large-format Titan wall-covering, which was used to create re-enactment scenes of the building of Titanic. This unique, high quality solution was the UK’s first large-format, single drop wall-covering – which typifies the innovative nature of our company.
In addition to the Titan wall-covering, bold iconography and recognizable quotations were screen printed directly to the gallery walls or hewn from solid materials and fixed directly. Interactive window graphics were also provided, and as such we developed a method for printing and applying piezo-LCD film to the windows. These graphics depict the before and after shots of the historic ship leaving its birth, switching seamlessly from a view of the slipway to an intimate education space – all of which enhances the visitor experience.
Our dedicated in-house project and installation team spent a total of three months on-site to ensure the project was delivered on-time and to specification. Installation included a significant amount of aerial rope and harness work, not to mention abseiling down the building walls to apply huge vinyl stencilled silhouettes.
In May 2012 the Titanic Belfast opened to the public, to mark the centenary of when the historic ship set sail on its maiden voyage.
Inspiring visitors ever since, Leach’s 700 plus graphics can be viewed throughout, helping to bring the world-renowned story to life.
From seamless wall-coverings, large-format graphic panels, to on-site screen printing and interactive window graphics – Leach’s dedicated in-house team helped to provide one of the world’s most memorable and breath-taking visitor experiences.
